DuPreez Aero Models - Sig Kadet: Maiden
This year I took part in 'Builduary' - an annual contest on the FliteTest forums where we try to build four planes within the month of February and get them all maidened by the 8th of March. I only managed to make three in the end, but this was one of them; a Sig Kadet designed by one of the other forum members.
Though fairly big, the original was designed to be relatively light weight with a rudder and elevator set up. I modified it to be easy to disassemble and reassemble. I also built the wings without dihedral and with flapperons, all topped off with a heavy set of landing gear for taxiing over rough terrain and running a 9" prop on a 4S power system. Essentially, I want this to be something of a bush plane.
Unsure of how this plane would perform and what with it being one of my heaviest and largest models, I took it to the biggest flattest field I could find. It has proven that it does not need such a big place to land in, so I will hopefully be taking it to many interesting places!
