SMSL SD9 Review - I don't know about this one.
The SMSL SD9 is an interesting piece of hardware. It's a media player that kind of handles online streaming, but is better suited to handle your own local or network files. It played my MP3, FLAC, WAV, and DSD files flawlessly when connected directly to the device. But the wireless online streaming was troublesome at best. Frustrating and irritating at worse.
I'd rather go with a Cambridge Audio MXN10 ( https://amzn.to/4dt3jtv ) for an extra $100 and have ROON, Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect options... Oh and a DAC!
Another option would be a Wiim Pro ( https://amzn.to/3yegw9C ) with iFi power supply ( https://amzn.to/4bnFMZL ) and move the savings over to the DAC budget.
But if SMSL adds these features to a future SD10, I'd be all in on that for sure. The I2S output is CLEAN!
