Just about everyone has used talcum powder. It’s also called Baby Powder and Body Powder.
It can cool and dry skin. Moms have used it to prevent babies’ diaper rash for over a century but Talcum powder has also been linked to cancer.
Manufacturer Johnson & Johnson claims it’s safe. But victims of ovarian cancer say otherwise.
And studies that back them up link talcum powder and cancer as far back as the 1970s.
Talc is a mineral made up of magnesium, silicon, and oxygen. The powder we put on our skin is finely ground talc.
Continued use has been alleged to cause ovarian cancer, even years later.
Johnson and Johnson was warned about this risk in 1994, and by numerous studies.
The family of a woman who died of cancer sued them and was awarded 72-million-dollars in a civil trial in 2016. Another verdict was awarded in Oct for 70 million and just this may in 2017, a Missouri jury awarded over 100 million to a woman who used Johnson and Johnson talc products for decades.
Even so, Johnson and Johnson continues to argue that their studies conclude talcum powder is safe.
There’s been no warning label on powder containers. There’s been no recall.
Too often product manufacturers put making profit over people; money over health. Johnson and Johnson has a duty to provide safe products. If there are risks of harm associated with their products, they also must provide adequate warnings. If they fail to do this, they should be held responsible for injuries that it causes.

Unfortunately they don’t have to live with the consequences of failing to warn of risks they that knew or should have known of problems. Consequences that the victims and their families have to live with every single day. At Greg Jones Law we will try to get you justice. To hold the manufacturer liable for you medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and for any permanent disability you or a loved one may suffer.
