This video is about Tying a Size 14 Parachute Dry Fly. I'm experimenting with various ways to secure the hackle. It's the hardest step to master in a parachute. In this video, I'm attempting to use the method that Davie McPhail uses--crossing the hackle tip and the thread and tightly securing the hackle to the hook shank in front of the wing post. By pulling the hackle down and back and the thread up and forward, you can get a tight, securing wrap, without catching any hackle fibers. With practice, it can be consistently executed. In another video, I'll try methods in which the hackle is secured by finishing wraps around the wing post.
