Spectrum Protect Plus Sizer & Blueprint: 10. Tying the blueprints, sizer and install together - Demo
This demo brings all the pieces together – the blueprints, the sizer, installing and customizing SPP. This is the 10th video in a series of videos that will help you correctly size, build and place storage components for Spectrum Protect Plus environments.
1. Build the vSnap with the capacity identified during the sizing activity: 25TB vSnap, virtual vSnaps, vadp proxy on same machine, compression, no dedupe, Storwize for storage 0:51
2. Provision storage in the Storwize V5030E user interface
a) Create volumes: 1 for flash data store, X for rdm mapped vSnap devices 11:21
b) Map volumes to the VMware cluster 14:52
3. Create a datastore in VMware on the flash datastore to hold SPP & vSnap virtual image deployments 16:48
4. Deploy the SPP appliance 22:32
5. Deploy the virtual vSnap appliance 28:22
a) Edit the VM properties as recommended in the blueprint
b) Power on vSnap pool
6. Perform the SPP getting started steps
a) Register a hypervisor 38:42
b) Register the vSnap 39:28
c) Update vSnap server code 46:17
d) Add SPP users 51:23
e) Create SPP Identity 52:20
f) Update SPP server code 54:43
g) Add log space 1:02:13
h) Create a SLA 1:07:10
i) Assign vm's to the SLA 1:08:16
j) Register VADP proxy and update code 1:10:25
k) Take an on-demand backup and review logs, disk activity and network activity 1:15:17
l) Update global properties 1:20:56
