How I updated my Spotify Car thing to "Desk Thing" Software on Windows OS
After December 9th, 2024, Car Thing will be discontinued and will no longer be operational. As of now, there are no plans to release a replacement or new version of Car Thing. Contact customer service by no later than January 14, 2025 to discuss your refund options. I got mine on Ebay, so I was not able to get a refund - So I was incentivized to figure out how to turn my carthing into a deskthing!
I created this video to show how I went about installing DeskThing Software on my device. I do not mean to take credit for the how to video below on the rooting steps specifically. But I wanted to share my overall experience with people and the bugs / tricks I learned along the way on installation specifically on Windows operating system.

After you install the Thing Labs OS, I think my video is a nice guide on how to quick start from there.
DeskThing software has been really buggy for me. I would not attempt this if you do not consider yourself technical. But overall isnt that bad in my opinion.
