Meet an extraordinary flute aiming to reproduce the qualities of the 19th century French masters. Yoshito Akiyama travels France searcing for 19th century silverware, from which he produces a small number of flutes from his workshop in Japan. Using the same design and many of the same tools as Louis Lot, he makes what can only be descirbed as a highly faithful replica of these fabled flutes. Here, Hannah Clark talks about an instrument which has recently come into our pre-owned stock, and demonstrates its qualities.
