Defiance is never intentional. Defiance can actually be a way in which your child copes with certain stressors or triggers. Understanding that this behavior is not personal or meant to inflict emotional harm is a step in the right direction. When you understand what causes certain behaviors you can avoid the triggers, or simply choose to respond differently. As you change your behavior you will notice theirs change too. We are excited you are here to learn how to interact with your child in a healthy way. Please let us know what you found most helpful in the comments and if you would like us to elaborate on anything.
