Employees State Insurance Act ESI Act
This is a short video on the Employees State Insurance Act or ESI Act 1948. The video has been based on the PARK Textbook of Community Medicine & is primarily meant for the benefit of MBBS students.
The Employees State Insurance Act or ESI Act of 1948 is a social security law aimed to provide medical care for employees with wages less than ₹15,000/month.
The Union minister of Labour is the chairman of the ESI Corporation.
The Employer pays 4.75% of the cost , the employee pays 1.75% & the state & central governments share the cost in the ratio 1:7.
The various benefits given under the ESI Act are Medical Benefits, Sickness Benefit,Enhanced Sickness Benefit, Extended Sickness Benefit, Maternity Benefit,Temporary & Permanent Disablement Benefit, Funeral Expenses & Rehabilitation.
