In this video number {1053} Why 12 volt on rectifier diode instead of 0.7 volt, Why 12 volt across a diode instead of 0.7 volt. I explained diode in ac circuit. when a diode is connected in dc circuit, it will drop 0.7 volt in case of silicon diode. but when diode is connected in ac circuit, it allows forward current and in this situation forward voltage will 0.2 volt 1 volt depending on diode type and forward current value. but in negative cycle condition, the diode becomes reverse biased, its junction ressitance increases, which causes drop current to a very negligible value, and to drop maximum voltage across the diode junction. which are called VRRM, blocking voltage or reverse voltage.
