Simple Fault and Earthquake Model
This extremely simple model demonstrates how faults rupture due to a build up of stress in the earth, and that when they move they can set off other faults, either at the same time or as aftershocks.
Made of blocks of wood sitting on a rough cut plank, joined together with rubber bands. Pull slowly and continuously on the string to immitate the continuous and unrelenting build up of stress by plate movement.
