Cleaning a sticky plastic product like the K-Mix from Keith McMillen
Some plastic products have a rubbery finish (soft touch) that becomes very sticky over time, like the K-Mix from Keith McMillen (a digital mixer / audio interface). In this video I show that you can clean it by using isopropanol instead of throwing the product away. Using isopropanol was not my own idea for these type of situations (you will find other video's on youtube about this topic). This one is just to show that it works also in the case of an expensive K-mix.

0:20 WHAT YOU NEED: Isopropanol
0:25 WHAT YOU NEED: Rubber gloves
0:30 WHAT YOU NEED: Good ventilation
0:34 WHAT YOU NEED: A lot of (paper) towels
0:41 HOW: Spray on the towel or direct on the product if possible
0:47 HOW: (Try on a small spot to check if the lettering will stay. This is the case for the K-mix)
0:59 HOW K-mix specific:Afterwards clean the white parts that became dirty while cleaning the sticky part.
1:10 HOW K-mix specific: note that the rubber feet can come off. Do not loose them
1:16 WARNING: do not rub a sticker or barcode. The lettering will disappear
1:27 HOW K-mix specific: glue the rubber feet back on the K-Mix (I used Patex Repair Extreme)
1:41 END RESULT: As good as new (but without the fancy soft touch finish)
1:49 PLEASE: Can someone ask Keith and other manufacturers to stop using this fancy soft touch but in the end horribly sticky finishes for their products?
