I Am Sitting in a Room - Resampled II is a version of the piece I Am Sitting in a Room by Alvin Lucier in the digital domain. It features the Elektron Octatrack Mk 1 resampling itself via connecting the analog outputs to the inputs for half an hour. Listening through headphones recommended.
The initial sample is the first sentence that Alvin Lucier is speaking in the original piece. This sample is played back by an audio track of the Octatrack and sent to the analog output. Then the input capturing that signal is recorded by a second track at the same time. Then this recording is played back from the second track and captured again by the recorder of the first track in the same way. This process repeats for 30 minutes.
The initial sample was recorded with the Octatrack at 44.1 kHz 24 Bit Stereo from an external line level source.
External resampling at 44.1 kHz 24 Bit Stereo, no time stretching applied, no filtering, no signal processing.
The initial sample starts and ends at a zero crossing.
Recorded from the main outputs of the Octatrack in 48 kHz 24 Bit Stereo.
The video was created with ffmpeg showing vectorscope, spectrogram and waveform of the recording.
