More than half of Tanzania’s population of 56 million are children. This youthful generation has the potential to be a huge asset to the country, if they are given a fair start in life.

Tír na nÓg is an Irish charity that works to provide exactly that for children in the Kilimanjaro region who have been orphaned or abandoned. Along with its Tanzanian sister organisation Kao La Amani, Tír na nÓg runs an orphanage in the town of Boma Ng’ombe where they provide shelter, food and education.

The existing facilities, however, are unfit for purpose - cramped rooms in rented premises with little space to play in. Article 25 has been working with Tír na nÓg and Kao La Amani to develop proposals for a new Children’s Village at a riverside site on the edge of town, where the children can grow up in a beautiful, nurturing environment.

VISUALISING A DREAM

We teamed up with the 3D visualisation experts at Hayes Davidson, who have put together this fantastic animation of the Children’s Village. Stylised as a children’s pop-up storybook, it takes us on a virtual tour through the ‘cottage’ homes, social dining terrace, cosy library and outdoor play areas.

The Hayes Davidson studio is now developing the animation into a virtual reality experience, so that the kids at Kao La Amani can explore their future home.
