The Fitbit Charge 2 is my most recent hiking and backpacking gear acquisition. It is going to replace my Charge HR. I use these fitness trackers on my hikes and while running for a couple of main things. The first is to keep track of my general heart rate zone and the second is to monitor my distance traveled and approximate calories burned. I think the Charge 2 is worth the update for a few reasons. First, it's now water resistant. Splash and rainproof is generally good enough for my hikes. It now comes with connected GPS, this means that as long as I have my phone on me (I always do) then I can get accurate distance data right on the fitness band. The last big reason for my upgrade was the changeable bands. Fitbit will be releasing leather bands for the Charge 2 which I am unreasonably excited about. That means it can fit in as a watch or be an athletic band.

There are several more updates which fitbit has included for the Charge 2 versus the Charge HR. I didn't have time to talk about all of these in the video and they include:
1. Text, Call and Calendar Notifications
2. Longer charging cable and charging cradle
3. Guided breathing exercises
4. Continues to have silent alarms
5. Continues to auto detect exercise and sports activities
6. Continues to monitor heart rate using its pure pulse sensors
7. Now has a heart rate measure which compares your heart zone to a typical person. It attempts to measure a metric called VO2 max.
I did just receive it so this is not a charge 2 review. More of an overview. Thanks for watching.
