Sims 1 vs Sims 2 vs Sims 3 vs Sims 4 - Gambling
Sims 1
In The Sims 1, The Slot macine was first introduced in The Sims: Livin' Large. The Slot Machine has a fun rating of 2. The chances of winning are pretty low. When the Sim is losing, their fun goes down... obviously. The machine will pay 10:1 on bets if the Sim wins and their fun will also increase.
Sims 2
In The Sims 2, a form of gambling was introduced in The Sims 2: Nightlife, when a poker table was added in the game. Up to four Sims can play. Playing the game costs §100 for each Sim, and they all start with the same amount of chips. If playing with multiple Sims, a normal game of poker will be played. Gameplay is autonomous and you have no control over the outcome. Sims will collect their winnings after a round ends.
Sims 3
In The Sims 3, the Gambling skill comes with the Lucky Simoleon Casino from The Sims 3 Store. Sims can level it by using slot machines, choosing Low (§50), Medium (§100), High (§300), or Lucky Coin (≈§1500) stakes. While gambling, they might get Distracted, Annoyed, or even gain an Ego Boost, and there’s always a chance to hit the Jackpot.
Sims can also play Blackjack with up to a §10,000 buy-in. The table seats four players, with teens only allowed to play for fun. A stationary SimBot torso acts as the dealer.
The Sims 3 Store’s Poker Table lets you set your own buy in and requires at least two players. Sims can practice their Poker Face, choose from four stake levels, and pick Moderate, Conservative, Aggressive, or Card Counting play styles.
The Roulette Table works similarly. Players can’t choose specific squares—only how fast and risky their Sim plays. Evil Sims can Hack these machines for better odds (with a chance of electrocution), while Technophobes can Sabotage them, lowering everyone’s chances of winning.
Sims 4
In The Sims 4, a form of gambling showed up with The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu, thanks to the Sabacc table. Up to four Sims can play. Pay 10 credits to enter, and then start betting their galactic credits, or simoleons if they’re back home. They all hold the same three cards and and toss money in one by one, making the pile grow. Sims can choose to play Logically or Confidently. The logic skill will help with chances of success. There is one more way Sims can influence the game, and it is by cheating. The winner takes everything on the table and also gets a confident +1, and the other Sims get Angry +1
