These four German verbs are related to sleep, but they have different meanings and usages. Let's look at them individually:

1. Schlafen
Translation: to sleep
Meaning: Refers to the actual act of sleeping.
I sleep eight hours every night. - He sleeps soundly and deeply.

2. Einschlafen
Translation: to fall asleep - Refers to the moment when a person transitions from wakefulness to sleep.
I can't sleep today.
The baby has finally fallen asleep.

3. Oversleep
Translation: to oversleep
Means that someone slept longer than planned and might be late for an important event.
I didn't hear the alarm and overslept. - He overslept. - He overslept all morning.

4. Ausschlafen
Translation: to oversleep
Meaning: to sleep until they feel fully rested, without having to wake up to an alarm.
I can finally get enough sleep on the weekend.
I got a good night's sleep today.
