OCP founder, Sam Krishnapillai sits down with Fae Johnstone and Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah (she/her) to discuss queer and trans liberation, and the work that we need to do together — as 2SLGBTQQIA+ folks and as straight/cis/white/bipoc allies ✊🏾🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Fae Johnstone (SHE/THEY) is the President of Queer Momentum and the Executive Director and Co-Owner of Wisdom2Action (W2A) and based on unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin territory in Ottawa, Ontario. She is an experienced community engagement expert, diversity and inclusion consultant, and project manager. Over her past two years working with W2A, Fae has led local, provincial, and national initiatives focused on 2SLGBTQ+ community health and wellness, youth mental health, meaningful community engagement, and GBV.
Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah (SHE/HER) is an award-winning Black feminist activist with over 8 years of local and international advocacy experience through various initiatives in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and through working at Oxfam Canada and Global Affairs Canada. She became the Executive Director at the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity (CCGSD) in July 2020. The CCGSD is a youth-focused organization that promotes diversity in gender identity, gender expression, and romantic/sexual orientation in all its forms on a national level through services in the areas of education and advocacy.
