Already LTE, but still slow?
LTE (Long Term Evolution), which we know as 4G LTE technology, has two delivery methods known as FDD and TDD.
FDD is short for Frequency Division Duplexing, a method of sending data using two different channels, namely transmit and receive. This method is also used now in Indonesia (except Bolt) and many Southeast Asian countries. It has the advantage of being less frequently exposed to interference and good reception.
TDD is short for Time Division Duplexing, where data is sent and received on the same frequency channel, only with a short time gap. The advantage of this method is that because sending and receiving data only uses one channel, the available capacity can be greater than FDD. It is very suitable for data that is sent asymmetrically, for example for internet browsing, video surveillance or broadcast.
The FDD spectrum uses different frequencies when users download or upload. As a result, there is a difference between download and upload speeds.
Meanwhile, TDD uses the same frequency for both uploads and downloads. So that customers have the same speed when carrying out these activities.
TDD itself is considered superior to FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) in the 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 2,100 MHz spectrum. Thanks to TDD, customers will enjoy faster internet, and better video quality.
LTE Advanced is an advanced development of LTE technology which allows the network to achieve a larger, more stable and faster coverage area. Usually this development is achieved by using multiple antenna techniques (MIMO) and adding Relay Nodes
Several operators such as those in South Korea and Japan are already using this technology. The visible result is faster data transmission.
Usually on LTE Standard the real download speed reaches 10-100 Mbps, with LTE Advance technology the speed increases to 100-300Mbps.
Meanwhile, 4G+ itself is usually used as another term for LTE Advanced.
