National Coming Out Day is observed every year on the 11th of October, supporting people who are part of the queer community in being open about their sexuality. Here I share my story of being a closeted teenager and ultimately my own coming out.
Whilst visibility helps raise awareness and break down barriers, it's also important to remember that not everyone is able to come out for reasons of safety. Coming out should be done in your own time, on your own terms, and not disclosing your sexual orientation doesn't invalidate your worth.
