Making a folding knife that is legal to carry in the UK (to be legal to carry a knife must be: non locking, not a fixed blade & have a blade of less than 3 inches) out of 01 tool steel & mystery wood.
INFO ON THE PROCESS: To heat treat the steel correctly you need it to heat it to cherry red and then quench in oil once the steel has become non-magnetic. I decided to also heat treat the stopping bar because of the amount of force thats placed on it by stopping the blade. You can then temper the blade in an oven to reduce its brittness. After heat treat, i hand sanded/polished the blade from 320-400-600-1200 grit, alternating directions of sanding with each grit. I then addded a detent to the blade, using a simple metal rod referencing a hole in the blade to prevent it from falling out & profilled the handle using a belt sander.
Making a UK Legal EDC (everyday carry) folding knife out of 01 tool steel. To be UK legal to carry the knife must have a blade of less than 3 inches, be non-locking, and not be a fixed blade.
The blade was sharpened off camera, i jsut didn't show it on the video due to time constraints.
If you have any more questions on the process please feel free to drop me a line & I would really appreiacte if you liked the video, shared it & subscribed to my channel - it helps me a lot!
