Russia - Pussy Riot
In Russia, two formerly imprisoned members of the Pussy Riot female art-punk collective launched a center to defend prisoners' rights.
Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina gave a news conference in the city of Saransk, in the Mordovia region, which is known for its high number of penal colonies.
Tolokonnikova spent most of her two-year jail term in one of Mordovia's penal facilities.
