Jerkbaits...around grass mats? Yep!
Not many bass anglers consider hard jerkbaits like Berkley's Stunna around shallow grass mats but perhaps they should. When fish of any sort are not biting well, the uber-erratic jerkbait will still trigger bites. Host Chad LaChance fishes jerkbait on a braided line/fluorocarbon leader set-up which allows the angler to easily snap and random grass off the bait during the retrieve as he works his way around the edges of the mat. In this case, bass were following other baits, but the jerkbait was all they'd actually bite. Jerkbaits are a fantastic multi-species bite-getter wherever fish swim, salt of fresh water.
