Tutors lead tutorials at the university that, for example, reinforce content taught in lectures and help students prepare for exams. The tutors are usually students themselves – just at a more advanced stage of their studies. As is Leonie. She studies Civil Engineering and leads tutorials in architectural drafting. This allows her to help other students master ALLPLAN, a program used to create architectural drafts.

In this week's “At work with...,” we met the student at the cafeteria and accompanied her to her tutorial. In the video, she explains how she started tutoring, how she prepares for the seminars, and the challenges that come with the job. According to the motto, “Students helping students”, tutors like Leonie are not only responsible for practical exercises but also for a deeper understanding of course content. One of the central tasks of tutors is the creation of a learning environment that promotes independent work. But TU Dresden students are not left alone in the process. There are plenty of opportunities for tutors to continue their training and develop their teaching skills.

With TUTORING, TUD offers a comprehensive program that supports tutors - from professional qualification to valuable practical tips for everyday tutoring. Professional development and further training for tutors: 👉 https://tu-dresden.de/zill/das-zentru...
