Gustav Lazarus: Rustic Minuet, Op.170 No.1
Phillip Sear plays a lively minuet from 1915 by the German pianist and composer Gustav Lazarus (1861–1920).

Born in Cologne, Lazarus studied at the conservatory there (his teachers included Isidor Seiss and Gustav Jensen (brother of Adolf)). Lazarus himself taught piano at conservatories in Berlin and also had a performing career. As a composer, he wrote operas, choral works, chamber music, songs and piano pieces. He is not to be confused with a slightly later Swedish composer of the same name.
