When you think of Japan, you probably think of things like anime, technology, clean streets, and friendly people. But something that I think is commonly overlooked about Japan is its fantastic transit. While it’s not uncommon to find great transit in many world class cities in Europe and Asia, Japan has always been notable, at least to me, for really mastering transit with punctual and extensive metro systems and regional rail systems, and a fantastic high speed rail system that when all combined can take you pretty much anywhere in the country. Today, we're diving into the fascinating history of one of the world's most iconic high-speed rail systems – the Shinkansen in Japan.
I'm currently learning Japanese but I'm still very much a beginner, so I hope that my pronunciation of the Japanese cities and the captions I used for each section title are correct.
