Large companies focus on product quality and reliability from the start of product design and development, but all companies will benefit from this thinking.
The design team needs to understand how the product might be used and in which environments, so they design it to be more reliable for these conditions - this includes selecting reliable components.
A product reliability test plan should be created with tests covering as many possible risks and use-cases as possible in order to find and fix problems with the design early in the development process (EVT/DVT).
