Curtain Wall Performance Testing | Wind Load, Water Penetration & PMU Explained
Before mass production of any curtain wall system, performance must be proven.
This video shows a full-scale Performance Mock-Up (PMU) undergoing extreme wind simulation using industrial fans and controlled pressure chambers.
The testing sequence includes:
• Air permeability testing
• Static water penetration testing
• Dynamic water penetration testing
• Wind load testing (serviceability & safety loads)
• Movement simulation where required
Every load is applied.
Every deflection is measured.
Every result is recorded.
Even if a system is pre-tested by the supplier, project-specific validation is critical before fabrication scales.
Testing protects the project from costly on-site failures and ensures structural integrity, watertightness, and long-term performance.
