Persona 3 Still Rocks!
Death is not a hunter unbeknownst to its prey. One is always aware that it lies in wait. Though life is merely a journey to the grave, it must not be undertaken without hope. Only then will a traveler’s story live on, treasured by those who bid him farewell.
This is the theme of Persona 3 for the PlayStation 2. Or as the game more succinctly puts it, "memento mori -- remember that you are mortal". A game completely centered around the question of how we react in the face of death. Where we continually move forward in time, unable to turn the calendar back to make different choices. Constantly and always moving closer to the eventual end we all will one day face. Even though it’s getting close to being a game that’s well over 15 years old, Persona 3 still rocks. I can’t tell you for certain if this is my favorite PS2 game, or even my favorite Persona game. But I can say for sure that this is one of my favorite games of all time.
