Lualhati Bautista is one of the country's most prominent and multi-awarded contemporary Tagalog fiction writers. She has written short stories, teleplays, screenplays, and novels, which include the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Grand Prize Winners Gapô (1980), Dekada '70 (1983), and Bata, Bata...Pa'no Ka Ginawa? (1984).
