Rethinking American Indian Community Mental Health Services
Joseph P. Gone, Ph.D. was a keynote speaker at the 2023 Student Support Services Conference held on April 27, 2023, Awaken to Endless Possibilities | Cultivate Self-Empowerment, Achieve Greatness. Dr. Gone's talk, Rethinking American Indian Community Mental Health Services by Harnessing Indigenous Cultural & Spiritual Traditions, highlighted key findings from his work to create alternatives to Western-style psychotherapy methods and practices in addressing mental health in U.S. indigenous communities. Using historical documents, data, and a demonstration project, Dr. Gone showcased best practices and successes.
