uh okay, just wanted to drop in to say that this video has been straight up copyrighted, it detected that it's a cover and my ad revenue is halved. and like, isnt the mysterious song basically royalty free unless the creators come out? well...
its from CD Baby Pro and theyre copyrighting on behalf of mephisto walz'... it's their "Like the Wind" song that's a cover of the mysterious song, and yknow, that's kind of unfair to copyright a cover of a song you also covered cuz you got royalties on it. well i dont think mephisto walz has anything to do with this, it's mostly youtube's detection system. i tried to appeal and so far its been ignored by the publishers so we'll see what happens :[
i know i dont really get much ad revenue in general, and not a huge chance this video will blow up but, yknow, just really demoralizing knowing something you work hard on is going to... yknow, end up like this.

at this point, y'all should know what goes in this section of the description... thats right, backstory time!!
as with everyone not actively invoved with the DOOM community, my first introduction to "myhouse.wad" was PowerPak's video, i find it really interesting as i liked watching long essay videos, and that was a really well made one. wonder how pyro will be able to top that off lmao.
anyway, something that rlly stuck out to me was the part before the good ending where he emphasizes the quote from the journal, "Happiness has to be fought for." then "The Most Mysterious Song on the Internet" plays in the background while he fights through the hellran gas station. that was def a highlight for everyone, and that, that "happiness"... it became a sort of mantra and the mysterious song became an anthem. afterwards, i also played through myhouse.pk3 myself (multiple times, it was fun :D) and had a good time
the mod got me into listening to "the most mysterious song on the internet", and i ended up loving it so much i wanted to make a cover of it and so i did, but i left it in the backburned for a while and came back, realized it's shit, and had to remake it and voila, the cover you listened to. now for the visuals, i couldve just went with the normal noteblock studio recording like in my war cover... but.. my brain told me i had to make that gas station fight in minecraft.
like i said, that part in the powerpak video really hit hard, and i wanted to recreate it in minecraft. should be easy right? wrong. just like what the author went through making myhouse.wad, i was sent spiralling and ended up learning about how to make datapacks and setting up command lines and scoreboards and and, its like i became obssessed with perfecting it, just like the author, but instead of some malevolent entity helping me, its my pursuit for autheticity that fueled the machinations of the map. it ended up being too good to just be a one-off cover set and shifting to making this a playable map people can play around with, actually do the same thing i did in the video, and yknow, that's kind of cool.
so yeah, download links are above if you wanted to try it out. is it more effort than its worth for a noteblock cover? yeah. was it worth it? probably not. did i have fun? hell yeah. will i do it again on future cover? depends on what im covering, cuz sometimes theres rocks i can do but then stones i cannot wink wink
