In Mosul, the workshop was hosted in the University of Archaeology, inside the campus of the university of Mosul. This institution is very important in the city that still suffers from the destruction from the Isis occupation period. The workshop took place inside the conference room of the archaeology department. T4H raised a lot of enthusiasm and trainees came in great number from the university itself, from the SBAH and from civil society. As Mosul museum is being reconstructed, we didn’t have access to genuine artefacts and trainees had to work on reproductions or random objects. The field day took place on a site currently under excavation : the Maski door, one of the doors of antique Assyrian capital Ninivae, that suffered Isis destruction. A few weeks after the workshop, trainees gatherer again for a conference about the history and the importance of the doors of the old city of Mosul, many of which remain despite the intensive bombing that fell on this part of the city.
