Written, narrated, directed, and produced by the multi-talented Muzikayise Mashele Mbungela, the series is poised to captivate audiences by exploring age-old beliefs and heritage.
Contrasting the generational knowledge gap, "D!gging Deeper" sheds light on the disparity between the youth's understanding and the wisdom held by esteemed elders regarding Nguni culture, traditions, and origins. Through captivating narratives and retelling of oral history, the series embarks on a journey to bridge this gap and ignite a renewed appreciation for Nguni heritage, especially for young people.
The title theme and score of "D!gging Deeper" are crafted by the dynamic duo of MYK GVNS and Mpumalanga producer extraordinaire, Phakamile "Phakza" Ngwenya, alongside emerging producer M.R.I Mantra. "D!gging Deeper" embarked on its transformative journey in 2018, fuelled by a passion for cultural exploration and a commitment to preserving the essence of Nguni heritage. As the series prepares to grace screens nationwide, audiences can anticipate an introduction as well as a cultural reference for Nguni customs, traditions and beliefs.
