• The boundary of the observable Universe is the cosmological horizon; objects on it have infinite redshift. The number of galaxies in the observable Universe is estimated at more than 500 billion.
• Over the past few decades, scientists have been able to measure the temperature variations of the cosmic microwave background radiation with considerable precision. According to their results, the Universe is actually flat, expanding without positive or negative curvature.
• We have a source of light coming toward us from almost the Hubble distance: the cosmic microwave background radiation. We know that the Universe has no "edge" at the distance to the source of the microwave background radiation, which is almost the entire Hubble distance from us.
• The Virgo Cluster is a cluster of galaxies located between 15 and 22 megaparsecs, the closest large cluster to the Local Group. It consists of at least 1,300 (most likely around 2,000) galaxies. In the observable sky, the cluster has an angular size of about 8°, centered in the constellation Virgo, hence its name.
