Auto-Position Mode (7) - Attempt to Transpose Ex. (6) Without a Position Change
This video shows what would happen if you attempted to play example 6 one octave higher without first changing positions. In open position with the pedal down, string one occupies the entire uppermost two octaves of the instrument, so any phrases played in that range will slide between all notes. In order to play polyphonically in this register, we must transpose, and Auto-Position mode is the easiest way to do this. See next example...
