Have you ever noticed that your profits at 3.30pm, just at the market closing, might differ from your profit sometime after the closing?

This happens because of the difference between the last trading price & the closing price. We all almost tend to think that these 2 are the same, but well, they aren't.

The last traded price is the price at which the last set of shares were bought/sold during the trading hours.. It is solely derived on the basis of demand & supply.

Whereas, the closing price is reflected after 3.30 pm which is calculated based on the weighted average of price & volume of the share in the last 30 mins of the trading hour.
