In this video am going to demonstrate how to configure Roaming Profiles in a Windows Server 2012 Environment
What is a roaming profile?
• Roaming Profiles allow users to be able to log into different machines and automatically be give their own Profile
• If network connection is down you will use the cached profile from the last time you logged in
• Profiles encompass: files, folders, settings
• But Applications/ Programs must be installed locally on each machine
Steps:
• Create a Share on Your domain controller called PROFILES and share this with a group called roaming profiles with Read/ Write Permissions
• Create New User and add the user to the roaming profile group
• Open User Profile
• Go to Profile Tab
• Type in Profile Path \\DC computer name\profile\%username%
(Substitute DC computer name with your file Server's Name)
• Login to a computer with User Account that will be made Roaming
• Profile in PROFILES folder will be automatically created.
