We all start somewhere.
Seventeen years ago, in my 20s, I did something that felt completely crazy at the time—I impulsively bought a longarm quilting machine while pregnant! I didn’t even know how to use a ruler back then. But what I lacked in skill, I made up for in determination.
Every single day, I practiced. My machine was crammed into a tiny room—so small I had to remove the closet doors just to make it fit. When my baby arrived, I’d place her in her bouncy chair and lull her to sleep with the hum of my free-motion quilting practice. It was far from perfect, but I kept going, stitch by stitch.
If someone had told me back then that one day I’d be quilting intricate designs like this effortlessly, I wouldn’t have believed them.
We all start somewhere.
If you’re ready to take your first step (or your next one) in free-motion quilting, my Beginner’s Guide to Free-Motion Quilting class is starting soon! Let me help you build your skills, one stitch at a time.
