How to get the most of your actors? This is one of the techniques directors use.
Step 1: Ask your actor to talk about the character
Step 2: Now talk to the character and ask him/her to talk about her life....go deep, ask uncomfortable question.
Step 3: Ask the final question that will lead the character to start the scene he/she has to perform.
It is not necessary to do this every time, it should be done in rehearsals, then find something that triggers that emotion in a split second during filming.
