Ride the Tiger is Julius Evola's 1961 manual for the late-cycle
individual — the man who finds himself in the modern world but does
not belong to it, and who can no longer find a living tradition to
rest in. Read alongside Guénon's doctrine of the Kali Yuga, it asks
what the differentiated person is to do when the dark age has
reached its terminal phase.
This essay traces Evola's argument: the Bourgeois world is in crisis,
but Bourgeois civilization is itself the antithesis of tradition.
Conservative reaction therefore fails — it tries to defend the very
order whose collapse the differentiated man should welcome. The
question becomes how to live among the ruins without being touched
by them, and what the doctrine of cycles teaches about the moment
of greatest dissolution.

A note on Evola: he was a Traditionalist, but he was also a
controversial political figure with views that this channel does
not share. Ride the Tiger, written in 1961, is read here on its
own terms as a philosophical text on the late-cycle condition. The
political dimension of his work is not the subject of this video.
