Clothes that give freedom and happiness
When I was 16, my mum didn’t want to spend the money to buy me one of the cool looking backpack so I decided to make my own.
For as far as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with clothes that were labelled “for girls / women”. As a kid, I was dragged to clothes stores, and the girl section seemed so much more fun, but I wasn’t allowed there because I was a boy.
It’s only around the age of 33 that I finally got the courage to wear in public “women’s clothes”, and the moment I did, I felt happy.
For the first time in my life, I could look at myself in the mirror and smile because I loved what I was wearing. My life opened in a magical way, and ever since, I’ve been freeing myself from the prison of “having to be a man”. Today, I feel free and happy to be whoever I want to be.
If you could be anyone, who would you be?
When I first posted photos of me in women’s clothes on social media, my mum told me that I look vulgar and that my clothes are cheap and don’t fit me.
I told her “Of course my first set of clothes won’t be great. Nothing can be good at the first try. Before you know it, I’ll be recognized for my sense of fashion.”
Within less than 6 months, I got invited to go the Costa Rica Fashion Week because of a photoshoot I did for Pride 2019. At the event, I was approached by Stea Disenos that became the first brand I represented.
In September 2020, I got invited on a TV Show called “DIVAS” because Costa Rica‘s Tiktok fell in love with my way of breaking gender stereotypes.
On 27 & 28 November 2020, I organized a fashion show in Costa Rica that made a lot of waves in the country because of its gender fluidity.
