Video walkthrough on how to transfer content between your old 3DS Console (such as 3DS, 3DS XL or 2DS) to a New 3DS console (such as New 3DS and New 3DS XL).

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

1) Back-up your SD Memory Card (thats inside your 3DS/3DS XL / 2DS console) to your PC
2) Update both consoles to their latest firmware
3) Make sure both 3DS Consoles have ‘FULL’ battery power or are connected to the mains
4) Valid internet access and your NNID Login details

Step by Step Guide:

1) From the Main Menu Select 'Settings' (Both Consoles)
2) From the Settings Meny Select 'Other Settings' (Both Consoles)
3) Press '3' at the top of the bottem scren (on the 3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS console)and select 'System Transfer'
4) Press '4' at the top of the bottem screen (on the New 3DS / New 3DS XL Console) and select 'System Transfer'
5) Both Consoles will then connect to the internet to check ‘Transfer Status’, once done click on ‘Transfer content between 5) Nintendo 3DS Consoles – Bottem Option. (Both Consoles)
6) Follow on-screen prompts (i.e. Terms & Conditions)
7) On the ‘Source Console’ (which is the 3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS) click on the top option ‘Send from this console’
8) On the ‘receiving console’ (which is the NEW 3DS / NEW 3DS XL) click on the ‘receive from a console’
9) On the ‘Source Console’ sign into your Nintendo Network ID (NNID) account and then select the console you want to transfer content to, once selected confirm the option on the ‘receiving console’
10) Follow on-screen prompts on the ‘source console’ this includes multiple terms & conditions and confirmation that data will be deleted on the ‘receiving console’
11) On the ‘receiving console’ select 'delete' so that the MicroSD card can be erased, which in turn continues the transfer process
12) If you have any DSiWareOn the ‘Source Console’ then a message will appear asking you to move them from Interal Memory to SD Card; simply click 'Move' to continue on with the Transfer Process
13) On the 'Source Console' you will be given an explanation into the three different transfer options 1. All Data - all data will be transfered wirelessly onto the new console, 2. Limited Data - Everything but Game Content is transfered or 3. PC Copy - only your profile/NNID is transfered with everything else being copied from the SD Card onto a MicroSD card via a Computer; after which you will be asked if you are using a SD Card or MicroSD in the source console. (Yes or No answer).
14) Upon selecting your answer you will then choose which transfer option to use 1. - All Data, 2. - Limited Data or 3. - PC Copy); choose whichever option you prefer to use - but for this guide i'll be using option 2 (Limited Data) as it's quicker.
15) Upon choosing your prefered Transfer Option the transfer process will begin (this process can take 15 - 45 minutes depending on your chosen method and how much data needs to be transfered)
16) Once the transfer has been completed the ‘Source Console’ will ask if you'd like to format the SD Card inside - the decision is up to you; after choosing a 'Transfer is Complete' message will appear and the system will restart.
17) Once the transfer has been completed the ‘receiving console’ will appear with a 'Transfer is Complete' message and then restart.
18) After the ‘receiving console’ (in this case the NEW 3DS) has restarted it will sync details online and then move any DSiWare to the internal memory.
19) Upon completion of moving DSiWare the ‘receiving console’ will display a message that any previously downloaded software can be re-downloaded from the eShop (if option 2 - Limited Data was chosen); after tapping continue the console will restart and will revert back to the 3DS Home Menu.

Upon completing step 19 the Transfer Process is considered complete; however if you chose Option 2 - Limited Data or Option 3 - PC Copy then you should follow the following steps to get your games back onto the console without having to re-download them.

Copy Content from PC to MicroSD Card (Option 2 - Limited Data & Option 3 - PC Copy):

1) Using a MicroSD to SD Card adaptor insert your MicroSD card into your computer (via Card Reader)
2) Copy the memory card contents (i.e. the contents you copied over from your SD Card which was in your 3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS Console before you began the transfer process).
3) Insert the MicroSD card into your console and then turn the console on
4) After a few seconds all of your content will appear as it was on your 3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS Console.

The Transfer process can vary between 15 – 45 minutes, depending on how much content you have on your 3DS Console, however while transferring content i’d advise staying with the consoles as it requires constant user input.
