I assumed there were no videos about this before I started working on this - cutcc has a good video also - • T7 | Spring Kick Conversions check it out. TON OF NOTES BELOW :^)
Generic spring kicks have a ton of active frames, and almost every character with one can get a full combo if it hits on or near the last active frame (frame 30) with a generic down jab. In game frame data helped massively to figure out a way to test slightly different frame situations, on normal hit and versus a floating opponent. I tried to show most example combos with the earliest possible hitting spring kick that could still be converted. Many of these could probably be 1 upped, easily if you got the hard stuff (like Nina's butterflies)
Many characters can only get a down jab on the last frame, but I found Lili can convert with a down jab on the last 2, and Leroy on the last 4 frames of a normal hitting spring kick. Best pickups easily would be Bob's b2, Leroy's df1, Zafina's df1, and Katarina df1 (not shown). Noctis gets nothing since he has no downjab or low enough hitting df1. Ling can only reliably do a d4. B1 into ff3 might work but seems incredibly hard.
From 3:10 on, I show some examples of conversions possible off a late hitting spring kick versus an airborne opponent. Ling and Noctis can get combos in this situation, and I'm sure every character with a generic spring kick can get something. If there is a character you want to see some examples for, that I didn't include, I could try.
Also apologies for the capture quality, and youtube's compression. This one looks awful. Still not sure how to record with OBS properly without NV encoder. I switched settings around every other clip here and maybe that screwed with the final render. I have a 5700xt, and ryzen 2700x processor. If anyone can recommend some settings for decently high quality I need some help, I should have more than enough power to do it. I'd also prefer to record to a format I can work with in Sony Vegas without having to convert every clip, I don't want to have to learn how to use handbrake... lol
