In this lesson, students study Miami-based artist Alex Yanes. They learn about his childhood and how his love of skateboarding and woodworking led him to create wood-based multimedia art that pops with tropical colors. After discussing what about his art stood out to them individually, students practice color, shape, and form by creating their own 2D versions of his 3D bird sculpture.
