Hexaware Technologies plans to hire 5,000-6,000 lateral talent for the current calendar year with a special focus on data skills followed by digital engineering, app development, cloud infrastructure and Java full-stack.
However, despite the volatile market, an official from Hexaware said the compensation expectation hasn't gone down to the pre-pandemic level though it has reduced from last year's mammoth rise. Besides, the joining ratio has improved.

The fact that the brand is recognised in the market, candidates think they should not lose the offer and they're coming on board,” he said, adding that the offer-to-joining ratio has gotten better than the pre-pandemic levels.
Hexaware onboarded around 4,500 people in 2022, taking its headcount to more than 28,000 employees. The employee retention rate also jumped from 68 percent in 2021 to 73 percent in 2022, though it is still low compared to 2020 (80 percent).
The attrition rate on December 31, 2022, was 21.9 percent, a slight drop of 1 percent from a year earlier.
“Like everybody else, we have also seen attrition spiking, but I think that is stabilised and we did several HR interventions to what needs to be done to curtail it,” Nayagam said.
Concerning return-to-the-office plans, Hexaware is operating in a hybrid environment with no mandate for employees to report to the office.
Sun Life Global Solutions (SLGS) is planning to hire around 700 people in India over the next two years, reports The Times of India.
Nearly 70% of the hiring will be aimed at meeting the company’s growing demand for operations in India, says Tarun Sareen, MD, SLGS. Apart from focusing on key knowledge skills like actuarial, finance services, legal services, risk, and compliance monitoring, the company also seeks to position itself as an important talent hub for technology, operations, and client care solutions, he adds.
With an employee strength of nearly 3,000, SLGS has two centres in India. It acts as an innovation hub offering knowledge and business services to its parent company, Sun Life Financial Inc that operates in 28 countries with over 85 million clients.

The hiring drive will mainly be for software engineering roles as the company is aiming to build custom AI bots, the report says. With this it plans to assist clients across sectors such as education and healthcare who are looking to leverage new, emerging technology, says the company’s co-founder Joseph Anantharaju.
Founded by Anantharaju and Ashok Soota, the 12-year-old firm, with an employee strength of over 5,000, helps companies digitise their services, the report adds.
Cummins, a US-headquartered engine manufacturer, plans to hire 4,000 people in India, reports The Economic Times.
The new roles will focused on the company’s aim to transition from the current technologies to new greener ones, says Ashwath Ram, MD, Cummins Group, India.
The company also plans to invest $1 billion in India through Tata Cummins, its subsidiary. It also plans to partner with various automakers to switch to green mobility, the report says.

Amidst a high rate of attrition and the fear of a recession, several companies are on a hiring spree, including TCS (Tata Consultancy Services). Since the aftermath of COVID 19, the IT giant has been recruiting for a variety of technical positions. The company is also seeking to hire freshers through recruitment drives.
Now, the largest IT company in the country is ready to hire 40,000 techies. TCS stated that in addition to 40000 staff, 1,000,000 freshers will also be recruited. There are now 5,92,125 employees working at TCS. Candidates pursuing BE, B.Tech, ME, and M.Tech may apply by visiting the company's official website.
Qualifications in education
Candidates who earned their engineering degree in 2019, 2020, or 2021, with a "minimum aggregate (all subjects in all semesters) of 60% or 6 CGPA in each Class X, XII, and Diploma can apply.
