FL Studio Tutorial - Humanising Programmed Piano to Sound More Realistic

In this video I talk you through how to humanise a piano part in FL Studio to make it sound more realistic. The piano VST used is EZ Keys from Toontrack.
The tutorial is broken down into these key points:
1. Write realistically playable music. Don't write piano parts that would require three hands or twenty-five fingers. If it's going to sound realistic it has to be possible for a human to play
2. Separate the left and right hands. In this tutorial I use colour coding to identify which notes are played by the left and right hands so they can be dealt with separately.
3. Use 'pedal' to sustain notes. If your VST has this option, automate it. If you don't have the option, program it in by increasing note lengths.
4. Work on the velocitires of your notes. First, accent all the downbeats by increasing the velocities of the first note in every phrase. Then nudge up the velocities of other notes that would naturally be a little louder.
5. Generally you would have the right hand playing the melody. If that is the case then the right hand notes should be louder than the left.
6. Use the 'randomise' option to add a little variation to the velocities.
7. Nudge notes randomly off the grid so they don't all hit exactly on the beat. Try not to overdo it so it just sounds like bad playing! Experiment and find out what works.
