ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
In 2015 I moved to Shanghai to study, and I stayed. I men a man from rural China, fell in love, got married and had a child. On my channel I share videos of daily life and travel in mostly rural areas of China - although we do end up in a city every now and again!
In April this year, there was a post in a Wechat group about a video competition - deadline 18 days later. I decided to enter, made three videos, sent them in, and in May I found out I was a nominee! What a thing! A five day round-trip to Beijing and a ceremony where I could meet like-minded people. All paid for. I was so excited.
Although many of the competing videos were made by professionals and big production teams - my simple video of my story in China won the grand jury prize. My guess is that it's because of the story in it self, and how very personal it was.
This came just when I needed it - a push into video making and 5000 USD when out balance were down on our last 100. The video is called Predestined (心缘) and I feel like that is such a fitting title also for the results. I don't know what we would have done if this had not happened.
Thanks to the organisers, the judges, the staff and all the participants for a wonderful ceremony and days in Beijing. And thanks to the universe for always giving me exactly what I need.
