September 8, 1943, was a decisive moment for the young people of the time: young men not yet twenty, amid the confusion of the Armistice, of a war that was far from over, of the Nazi-Fascist occupation, were faced with a choice that affected not only themselves, but their future and that of everyone: continue to fight and die for a puppet government in German hands or choose to go underground and join the Resistance.
Eighty years later, starting with the unpublished testimonies of those young people, thirty boys and girls from Bologna's high schools—Copernico, Galvani, and Laura Bassi—embark on a journey through the places, memories, and doubts of their peers. A journey that takes them from Monte Sole to Romagna, leading to a reflection on what it means to choose today, on what freedom means today.
