The World Shuts Out Africa
As a few African countries grupple with the new Omicron Covid variant, it is eveident that countries in the global north are locking out Africa. Canada has since the emergency of the new variant restricted entry of all foreign nationals if they have travelled through Southern African region including South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatin in the last 14 days. Similar bans are being enforced in the U.S, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Europe. BBC spoke to Dr. Ayoade Alakija, Co-chair of the African Vaccine Delivery Alliance
